Flashing star next to a red star?
So I just went out to walk the dog.. 3 Deer cam running past, and I almost had a heart attack. (its 2 am) and I look up trying to settle down, and I realize this bluish, reddish, flashing star (at first i thought it was a plane, but why would a airplane be that far up?)… Its not flashing like, on, off, on, off. Its more dim, bright, dim, bright. And next to it seems to be a red star, maybe planet Mars. I am very concerned about this, as i am very interested in astronomy. If anyone knows, your answers will much be appreciated. Thanks!
The dimming of objects in the sky are due to the scattering of light through the atmosphere.
And if you really want to know what planet/star you saw, use a simulation program called Stellarium.
